From October 1, 2025, the city of Heidelberg will levy a municipal overnight tax.
This amounts to €3.50 per night and per guest and applies to private and business overnight stays in all accommodation establishments within the city limits.
Exceptions:
Children and young people up to and including the age of 16 are exempt from this tax.
Further regulation:
The tax is charged for a continuous stay in the same accommodation establishment for a maximum of five consecutive nights.
Background:
This levy was introduced by a resolution of the Heidelberg city council on June 5, 2025 to support urban projects and tourism infrastructure.

Together with all hoteliers in Heidelberg, Dehoga has fought to prevent this bureaucratic and administrative effort. Unfortunately without success.
